Whew!!  Are we all tired…we all took a two week vacation up to Michigan and Vegas.  First we had to board Dozer and had our neighbor watch Willow and the house for us.  You don’t realize how much mail you get in a two week period until you go away and come back to a stack that seems to never end.

We started our trip up to Michigan to see family and friends.  We went up to Mackinac Island and then up to The Soo Locks…COOLIO!!  We stopped off to see Castle Rock -  me and heights…I was shaking like a leaf but I went up there and stood on that HIGH CLIFF!!  Then we were back to see our friends from San Diego, who were in town to see their family.  It was AWESOME to catch up with them, but time went WAY to fast!!  I think a trip out to San Diego is in our near future.  We were also able to go to Grand Haven and see the Coast Guard festival and tour some BIG ships.  By the end of the first week we were getting ready for Bruce and I to head to Vegas while the kids stayed with my brother and sister-in-law and then my parents.

Vegas was an absolute blast!!  We met so many interesting people…an FBI agent, a couple from Minnesota, another couple from Denver and a Scandinavian dude along with some bankers from Texas.  The Carnival Court seemed to be the place where we found our most entertaining people of all.  We took a gondola ride at the Venetian, ate dinner at the Stratosphere and took in a show that night.  Bruce and I found the M & M store and bought pounds of purple M & M’s…YUM!!  We laid out at the pool and Bruce became the lobster…ha!!  We also gambled a little a won a lot!!  COOLIO!!

While we were in Vegas we received the news that my step-brother died from a massive heart attack while he was in Traverse City fishing.  He was only 40 years old…the service was on Saturday, a day after we arrived back from Vegas.  We were only able to stay for the viewing, but he sure did look good.  Eric was a U.S. Marine and served in Desert Storm.  He was a good man and a very hard worker…he will be missed by all.  I am still in shock that he is gone.  He was in my wedding and his daughter was my flower girl…Eric leaves behind several children and 6 grandchildren.  Eric is resting with the Lord now, may peace be with the family that is left here on Earth.
