Well, once again we've been somewhat lazy in updating our family site. And even though we're writing something right now, we really don't have a whole lot to say! hehe - how sad is that?! :)

We will have some new pics up soon, with Halloween, a trip to Hocking Hills and Lisa's recent attempt to go as a red-head.

In the meantime, check out Bruce's Geek Blog. He's started updating that more often now. In fact, why don't you go check out his blog entry about Identity Theft. He's even put up an electronic version of a quiz so you can see how susceptible you may be to having your identity stolen.

Take care and enjoy your day/night!

Just a quick update since it's been over a month since we've updated our site. We've been so busy with getting prepared to move! Let's see...

Nicole's arm has healed perfectly and her cast was removed last week. She now has to wear a brace for a few more weeks, and then she'll be all perfect again!

We did get the house and we're moving in this coming Memorial Day weekend! We're all so excited to move back and get our family put back together after 2 months of separation...this move has been challenging but worth it!

Oh...in just the past couple of days I've had four people ask about what service I use to watch my credit report and keep an eye out for identity theft. I personally use MyFICO Identity Theft Security. Lisa and I have used it for a couple of years now and it's proven to be quite effective.

Nicole is feeling better with her arm. She goes in on Monday to have it put in a cast, but she's already getting lots of attention! She was at a friend's birthday/slumber party last night and had so much fun! Thankfully she didn't detract from the birthday girl -- they all had a great time!

On the house front, Bruce was in the house on Saturday and took a boatload of pictures. They are posted HERE.

Bruce meets with the seller and realtor to review everything today at 4:30pm. Given the frustration we were feeling up to this point, we are hopeful that everything is agreed upon smoothly and we can put this thing to bed.

Big News!!!

First and most importantly, our poor little angel girl Nicole. She was playing outside Thursday after school on the swings and fell off. And like us all, she put her arm out to catch herself - but instead of breaking her fall, she broke her arm! OUCH!!!

Lisa took her to the urgent care (which was an adventure in itself in this town) and had it looked at, xrayed and put in a splint. This morning the xrays were confirmed and she does in fact have a fracture. Our poor baby!

But she's actually kind of excited because that means she'll get a cast that all her friends can sign!! With a line of boys that like her (like mother like daughter) and the girls that like her for not only her personality but because she attracts the boys (again, like mother like daughter), she'll have more signatures then cast! hehe

In other news....the Westbrooks have a new home! Yes, the seller has accepted our counter-counter-offer! :)

We got the verbal acceptance about 9pm Friday through the realtor and are very excited and anxious to get the official documents all signed in the coming week. Look out Westerville...we're baaaaack!!!

March 22, 2006

Last weekend we went and saw Supercross as a family in Orlando. What a blast! We really enjoy motocross and have been to quite a few arenacross events, but seeing the pros, the very top 100 riders in the world, live and in person -- WOW! The roar of the 4-strokes, the smell of the exhaust, the rumble of the race...we really miss that! We've added some pics of the race here. Enjoy!

In other news, Bruce has accepted a job back in Columbus and we're moving back home! Florida has been sunny and warm, and the beach is awesome, but the rest...well, it just isn't us. Westerville became our home, and the whole family really misses being home. Yes, we're going back to rain and cold, but we gain the four seasons, friends, a great job, and many of the things that we enjoy that Jacksonville just doesn't have -- like restaraunts, nice movie theaters, Easton, a big city with a small town feel (particularly Uptown Westerville), and more. We can't wait!

March 12, 2006

What a great weekend! Friday night we watched Supercross in Daytona, where our guy, Chad Reed #22, took the podium. Although he only took 2nd place, it was EXTERMELY impressive given that he seperated his shoulder earlier in the week and wasn't even thought to race, let alone place. Way to go Chad! With Ricky Carmichael having gotten his points back from a "fuel misadventure", Chad is now just 2 points behind RC in the AMA race for the title! We'll be heading down to Orlando next weekend to see Supercross live and in person - we can't wait!!

Then on Saturday Lisa's brother and family came and paid us a visit. They were down here from Michigan seeing Scott and Lisa's dad, Darci's parents and then us. It's been probably 3 years since we saw them last, so it was great to see them again!

February 23, 2006

Well, there's actually not alot going on at the moment, it's just that we noticed we still had Christmas stuff here in our "Latest News" section. Doh!

We have seen three birthdays come and go though that we neglected to say anything about:

Happy Belated E-Birthday to Courtney on Feb 5!

Happy Belated E-Birthday to Nicole on Feb 19!

Happy Belated E-Birthday to Grandpa Westbrook on Feb 19!

Yup, Nicole and Grandpa Westbrook share the same birthday - pretty cool! Other then that, we're still simply getting adjusted to the Florida life, primarily the weather. It's just so strange to be experiencing such warm weather during a time that we're used to living in the dead of winter, 20 degrees outside with ice and snow. A part of us actually misses that -- but not a big part. hehe!

Oh, we decided to put up a family picture on the front page too. We'll try and keep it relatively updated -- maybe a new one every 3-6 months. If you see it getting outdated longer then that, give us a shout!

Happy New Years everyone!

It's a beautiful, warm, sunny day here in Florida. We're still trying to figure out if this is actually normal weather or not! We decided to take a few family pictures in the backyard to celebrate a new year as a family in our new home, in a new state with new possibilities!

We wish everyone a wonderful new year!

M   E   R   R   Y       C   H   R   I   S   T   M   A   S ! ! !

Merry Christmas to all our friends and family whom we miss very much, especially at this time of year. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year! We are looking forward to a much less stressful and much more enjoyable year in 2006, as we try to make every year a better year then the last.

We have some Christmas pictures up already. It was an interesting Christmas, our first in Florida. No snow, no freezing cold, no cold dark day...it was very odd having almost 70 degree weather and actually going to the beach on Christmas day! It will definitely take some getting used to...it just doesn't feel like Christmas without the snow and cold, and not being near family and friends. But we survived it and we're looking forward to many more! Although next year we're thinking about taking a long drive to see some snow back home. We'll see!

We love you all!!!

If you want to wish Alec a happy birthday feel free to post it into our guestbook - I'm sure he'd love to hear some birthday wishes from all of you!

Tired of the "politically correct" Christmas that we've been seeing more and more of through the recent years? Well, so is Foamy! Check out his views of what's become of the joy of Christmas here. WARNING: Foamy is NOT politically correct in his use of the English language.

Bruce has setup yet another new blogging page - this time maybe he'll actually keep it updated! Check it out here.

As is the case with most of Bruce's stuff, it will probably be in a state of constant change for right now, so be sure and check it frequently!

Today we enjoyed yet another new and fun experience in our new city for the whole family - seeing the famous Blue Angels Navy pilots!

Jacksonville is proving to be a very cool town...er, city (given that it's the 14th largest city by population in the country and the number 1 largest in terms of actual square miles, we should be calling it a big city, but it does have a pretty nice small town feel at times - traffic NOT being one of them though). Anyway, the Blue Angels are at Jacksonville Beach this weekend for the Jacksonville Air Show so we decided to go check them out today. Having them fly right overhead and just a couple hundred feet above the water in front of us was pretty cool. The kids loved it and so did we!

Here are some pics of the show...

And of course Halloween was this weekend so we took the kids out trick-or-treating. Another nice thing about this city is that unlike Columbus we have Halloween on...guess when...yup, Halloween! So Monday night we're out in the neighborhood with hundreds of other kids and parents, collecting candy, going through a neighbors haunted garage, and picking up some hot dogs, brats and pop at another neighbor. Fun was had by all, and even Daddy dressed up a little this year (he's the funny looking one with the green hair - hehe). Here are the
pics of Halloween...

New pictures are up!

We finally got around to putting up some pics of the new place and some of our beach excursions. The kids are LOVING the beach and the pool, and so are we!

And while we love our new home, it's quite a mess - as we keep taking our weekends to head to the beaches! Maybe this weekend we'll be forced to stay away from the beach due to Wilma's impact on weather around here and we'll try and get our house organized into a comfortable home. Good luck to us on actually accomplishing some of that this weekend!

Happy Sweetest Day!

Yup, today is that little recognized day called Sweetest Day. Always the third Saturday in October and seemingly more important in some areas of the country then others. Originally started around 1922 by a man in Cleveland (perhaps why it seems to be more recognized and celebrated in the Great Lakes region - Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisonsin) who conceived the idea to help show the city's orphans and shut-ins, who often felt forgotten and neglected, that they were remembered. He did this through a distribution of small gifts. With the help of his friends and neighbors, he distributed these small remembrances on a Saturday in October. During the years that followed, other Clevelanders began to participate in the celebration ceremony, which came to be called "Sweetest Day". In time, the Sweetest Day idea of spreading cheer to the underprivileged was broadened to include everyone, and became an occasion for remembering others with a kind act or a small remembrance. And soon the idea spread to other cities all over the country.

Sweetest Day is not based on any single group's religious sentiment or on any family relationship. It is a reminder that a thoughtful word or deed can enrich someone's life and give more meaning. Sweetest Day occurred naturally out of a grassroots desire to sweeten someone’s day and evolved into a day to recognize anyone appreciated, remembered or loved.

So get out there and take this opportunity to show someone that you care!

Because you’re so warm, passionate and tender
Because you’re wild, silly and exciting
Because you make me laugh when I’m crying
Because you understand me when no one else does
I love you more then life and will love you forever!

Today is my beautiful, wonderful, amazing, sexy wife's birthday! Happy Birthday Beautiful!!

If you too want to wish Lisa a happy birthday feel free to post it into our guestbook - I'm sure she'd love to hear some birthday wishes!

Being that it's Lisa's birthday I found this definition of a Libra woman. I wonder how many of you can see how near or far Lisa is to this particular definition or portions of it? Just for fun, make it a "quiz yourself on Lisa" day! :)

The Real Definition of a Libra Woman by Brandy
"I'm a Libra. Libra's are indecisive for different reasons. They like to make the other person happy, so they usually won't make the decision themselves. Libra's also take time to weigh their options. Even though we are decisive, we are very opinionated. We crave compliments. If we don't get them we will be disappointed, but we will probably still like you. We will try to go out of our way until we do get a compliment; it is a challenge to us. We tend to be very beautiful with beautiful features. We are extremely emotional and sensitive, but we are usually always right because we've thought things out so well. Libras enjoy the finer things in life like trendy fashion, beautiful homes, cars, things. We hate to be alone and are happiest when we are married. We claim to be very private people, but we will tell you in a heartbeat our whole life story. Libras tend to be attracted to the rebel guys vs. the good guys, because Libras need to lighten up and have a good time, but then they feel guilty if they do. Libras feel unlucky in love, are clingy when they are loved because they don't want it to go away. When we cling, we lose. We are pleased easily, but still never feel completely satisfied. We crave attention and can get very jealous of others. Libras are meek and mild, but we will defend ourselves to whatever length is necessary if we are provoked."

As a side note, we've been busy trying to put the new house together and so we haven't taken time yet to post anything since our move. But we do have some pictures to put up so we'll get those up soon.

September 5, 2005

This will be our last posting from Columbus, Ohio. The movers are here and we'll be out of here soon. Florida here we come!

Our next post will be from our wonderful new home in sunny Florida!

Yes, the transformation is almost complete now. The site is now 90% revised! After doing quite a bit of tweaking and testing tonight, all that's left is Bruce's pages.

We even have new PICTURES up and available for viewing! Yes, yes, we know...it's about time. We promise to try and keep things more current.

Take a look around and let us know how you like the new look!

Quote of the Moment

"This above all: to thine own self be true,
and it must follow, as the night the day,
thou canst not then be false to any man."
-- William Shakespeare

Most of us are familiar with the "to thine own self be true" quote, but take a moment to see it in context. Once we are true to our own selves, then we by extension will be true to others. Or, thought of in another way, unless we can be true to ourselves first, we cannot be true to others. Food for thought...

July 31, 2005

Woohoo!!!

Welcome to the newly revised TheWestbrooks.com, now operating on version 4.0!!

Today we're introducing our latest revision. This time around we've changed the complete look of the site to a lighter, happier color tone, based on Lisa's favorite color (purple) and her nick-namesake (lilac). So welcome to version 4.0 of TheWestbrooks.com!

July 30, 2005

We're FINALLY working on putting a fresh new look on our webpage. Lisa is extremely happy with this since she wants a lighter, happier feel to the site, having felt that the darker blue tones were too dark. I (Bruce) should have the final BETA finished tonight and ready to throw onto the web tomorrow evening. Can you feel the excitement in the air??? :)
