In order to clean up the front page of our website we decided to move all of our older posts to this "archive" page. If you really want to see the old posts, feel free to read on...November 17, 2004
Sometimes you just have to say WTF. Lisa found this quote today and we think it's a great way to look at life. While Lisa pretty much flies by the seat of her pants, I am quite a bit more analytical and serious - too much so actually. It's about time I loosened up and enjoyed life to the fullest - tasting and experiencing all that life has to offer. Why don't we all just open ourselves up to new experiences and stop thinking so damn much? As Nike would say, "Just do it" -- and allow yourself to enjoy life without fear or insecurities!
So anyway, for anyone that may feel a little trapped or overwhelmed by past experiences, here's a little thought:
"You may feel a bit trapped in the past. Looking at old pictures, pouring through scrapbooks or reading old love letters isn't going to take your mind off your problems, but for some reason you can't stop thinking, 'What if?' Of course, there's no way to go back and relive anything that happened years, days or even hours ago, so you may as well try to move forward. Leave the past where it belongs, and summon the courage to take that first step forward.
Look at the past only in order to improve the present. You'll be ever so happy with the results."
So don't forget the past -- feel the pain or pleasure that may be a part of it, learn from it and accept it as who you are. Then don't let it stop you from going out and trying some new experiences - taste more of what life has in store for you!

Happy Anniversary to us!!
They said, "I bet they'll never make it"But just look at us holding on
We're still together still going strong
...
Ain't nothin' better
We beat the odds together
I'm glad we didn't listen
Look at what we would be missin'
...
I'm so glad we made it!

We're now in our new house - which is in a new city, new school district, new ward (church), new stake (church) - along with a new outlook on life, family and all that entails.
Here's to living every day better than the last, and making 2004 better than 2003!

It's time to try to regain some sense of normalcy in our lives and on our website. We're hopeful that things will work out in the end, and all will be well. With that, we've removed a few items that no longer hold any purpose other than provide an avenue for us to vent. Perhaps it's time to change the focus somewhat. Coming soon we will be posting some pictures of the new puppy and some more pictures of the kids and family. Also, based on some feedback from family, we're thinking of how best to create a home page for the kids to post things themselves - things like drawings and letters. Stay tuned!March 30, 2003
Ok, ok, we give! We've had a surprising rush of friends and family request that we reconsider that Lisa put her webpage back up, along with our pictures. After much deliberation, Lisa decided to rise above the petty turmoil that a few crazy people created, and continue doing what she wants - and we all know Lisa gets what she wants!! "If you get bogged down in what other people think of you, you will quickly lose your own identity." So, she's back at it! To all our friends and family, enjoy the comments of our thoughtful and sometimes provocative Lisa!March 25, 2003
"A picture's worth a thousand words"...and a thousand mistakes, or so it seems. The pictures on our site have been taken down as it seems that many people simply can't accept others for who they are, without gossiping and making wrong assumptions. So be it. As of today, there will no longer be pictures on our site. Additionally, Lisa has retracted her webpage and will no longer be posting anything on it. It seems to stir up far too much anxiety in some, and cause agitation, strife and discontent among small minded people - especially those who want to blame others for all their own problems.March 3, 2003
Bruce has made some headway on his webpages finally! Check them out here. Some more work still to be done, but it's getting there.January 12, 2003
After considering some of the current events happening in our lives at this point in time, I felt the desire to make a brief statement on our website. I will probably include this into it's own little "About Us" type page in the near future, but for now, I'm letting this stand on its own, right here out in front. TheWestbrooks.com is the personal Web site of Bruce Westbrook. This is me without regrets or the need to ask forgiveness. There may be times where the content may be ambiguous or contradictory but we are all complex individuals, with all the issues that come with life's experiences. If the content comes as a suprise at times, it simply means that we're continuing to grow and change, and isn't that what life is all about? We are not here to make any world-changing philosiphical remarks, to defend our personal decisions in life, to spew rumors or gossip, or to make any real difference in anyone's life. We're simply here to enjoy the pleasure of talking about ourselves and allowing our far-away friends and family to have a glimpse into our lives and our thoughts. To that end, this site is just what it is... a small footprint in a very large world. -- BruceJanuary 2003 - Happy New Year!

10/2002 - Site Revised - AGAIN!
Yes, here we are again. It's been six months since our last update to the site. And now that we're finally adding some more content, we're changing the look of the site yet again! Why? I'm glad you asked! Here are a few reasons for those that care:- Bruce disliked the old site's plain look
- Bruce felt like doing some more html work
- Lisa wanted dogs on her site - chocolate labs, to be specific
- Lisa wanted to be able to add content easily. Since Bruce strongly dislikes MS FrontPage, he found the next easiest thing to do would be to use Server Side Includes (SSI). This left Lisa with simply needing to add content to a text file and then run a script to upload it to the site. So far, so good!
- Bruce didn't have anything else to do (yeah right!)
We hope you enjoy the look and feel of the new site. I really like the soft blue colors (Lisa would prefer chocolate labs all over the site, but she's OK with this instead :). I don't entirely like the square angles on the site, so I'm going to work on rounding the corners at some point. Other than that, enjoy!
